Cookies to Place Under your Prelit Christmas Trees

For those who have children, they know that the holiday season is one that kids believe to be magical and something that the parents always try to make as great as possible. There is no other widely known tradition than setting cookies under prelit Christmas trees to give to Santa on Christmas Eve. After all, Santa is delivering presents throughout the world so he needs a little sugar rush from time to time! And even many kids leave carrots under the tree for the reindeer so that they have a snack when they stop too. With this being said, we have gathered a few suggestions as to what types of cookies that Santa is going to leave to see under your prelit Christmas trees this year.

Molasses Cookies

These are sweet cookies that many people love during the holidays. It is fairly simple to make and can be the start of the traditional cookie that kids want to make each year. To make this you first need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then mix all these ingredients together in a bowl:

– 2 cups of granulated sugar

– 1 1/3 cup of canola oil

– ½ cup of molasses (whichever brand works for your taste)

– 2 eggs

– 4 tsp of baking soda

– 1 tsp of ground cloves

– 1 tsp of ground ginger

– 2 tsp of ground cinnamon

– ½ tsp of salt

Once these ingredients are mixed well together then you are going to want to take 4 cups of flour, and add these into the bowl 1 cup at a time. When this is mixed, simply form balls about the size of ping-pong balls and roll in a bowl of granulated sugar. Then place this onto the pan, do not flatten the ball.

Bake this for 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees until the tops of the cookies have a few cracks. You will find that even the kids can help with these cookies, which makes them extra special for Santa.

Of course, if you are not a baker, there is nothing wrong with your kids picking out some cookies from the store or from the bakery to put under the tree. Just make sure that they get something that everyone likes so that you can all enjoy a few extra sweets during this time of the year, along with Santa!
